How to Pray the Holy Rosary

The Holy Rosary is one of the most cherished devotions in the Catholic Church. As we pray, we meditate on key moments in the lives of Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, known as the Mysteries of the Rosary.

A complete Rosary consists of five decades. Each decade includes:

• 📿 1 Our Father
• 🤍 10 Hail Marys
• ✨ 1 Glory Be
• 🙏 The Fatima Prayer (traditionally prayed after the Glory Be)

Before each decade, we announce a Mystery and spend a moment reflecting on that event while praying. In this way, the Rosary becomes not only a vocal prayer but also a meditation on the Gospel.

Prayed on Mondays & Saturdays, and Sundays during Advent and Christmas

These mysteries reflect the joyful events surrounding the Incarnation and the early life of Jesus.

5. The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

✨ Luminous Mysteries

Prayed on Thursdays

These mysteries focus on Christ's public ministry and the revelation of His divine mission.

1. The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan
2. The Wedding at Cana
3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
4. The Transfiguration
5. The Institution of the Eucharist

🌿 Sorrowful Mysteries

Prayed on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays during Lent

These mysteries invite us to meditate on Christ's Passion and sacrifice for our salvation.

1. The Agony in the Garden

4. The Carrying of the Cross

✨ Glorious Mysteries

Prayed on Wednesdays and Sundays during Easter and Ordinary Time

How to Pray the Rosary

Using the numbered guide below, follow these simple steps:

① Make the Sign of the Cross

Holding the crucifix, make the Sign of the Cross and pray the Apostles' Creed.

② Pray the Our Father

On the first large bead, pray one Our Father.

③ Pray Three Hail Marys

On the next three small beads, pray three Hail Marys, traditionally for an increase in Faith, Hope, and Charity.

④ Pray the Glory Be

Pray one Glory Be, then announce the First Mystery for the day and pray one Our Father on the large bead.

⑤ Pray Ten Hail Marys

Pray one Hail Mary on each of the ten small beads while meditating on the Mystery.

⑥ Pray the Glory Be and Fatima Prayer

At the end of the decade, pray:

• Glory Be
• Fatima Prayer

⑦ Continue Through the Remaining Mysteries

Announce the Second Mystery, pray one Our Father, and repeat Steps 5 and 6 for each remaining decade until all five Mysteries have been completed.

⑧ Finish the Rosary

After completing all five decades, pray the Hail, Holy Queen, any concluding Rosary prayers you wish to include, and finish with the Sign of the Cross.
